Double dongs and double dildos: sizes, XXL models and how to share one

A double dong is a dildo with a head at each end. Two men can take one end each and meet in the middle, one man can use it alone with the second end as a handle, and a soft one can be bent so both ends work at once. It is one of the few toys that puts two bottoms on equal footing: nobody is stuck holding the toy, and each of you feels every move the other makes.

The main types of double dong

Straight double dong

The classic: one long, flexible shaft of 30 to 45 cm with a head at both ends. Soft enough to arc between two bodies, firm enough to push. Most men start here.

Slim double ended dildo

The same idea with a narrower shaft, about 3 to 3.8 cm across. Easier to begin with, and it leaves more room to move.

U-shaped and bendable double dildos

A shorter toy bent into a U, with both ends pointing the same way. Because both heads face one direction, it is more a toy for one body, for double stimulation or for a partner to use on you, than one you both ride at once.

Realistic or non-realistic

Realistic double dongs have a sculpted glans and veins along the shaft. Veins add sensation, but also friction, so they need more lube. Non-realistic models are smooth, often transparent, and glide more easily.

XXL double dongs

A double dong XXL is longer than 45 cm and usually thicker too. The XR Brands XXL in our range measures 71 cm with a 6.1 cm shaft. With an XXL dong the real challenge is girth, not length. If you are heading that way, read the XXL dildo guide first.

Then there are double dildos that are not double ended at all: two shafts side by side on one base, for one man who wants double penetration. Same family, different game.

Length: what the numbers really mean

The total length is shared. On a 45 cm double dong two men each have roughly 20 cm, minus the part in the middle that one of you holds. On a 36 cm model that is about 15 cm each, which is plenty for most. Few men use more than 20 to 25 cm of one end.

That is why the huge numbers people search for, a 55 cm dildo or even a dildo of 1 metre, are less useful than they look. At 71 cm the XR Brands XXL already gives two men a generous share each; a longer dong mainly adds weight and a floppy middle that is hard to control.

Girth and firmness

Girth decides comfort far more than length. Compare the diameter with a dildo you already enjoy: if 3.5 cm feels good, 4.3 cm is a clear step up and 6 cm is a different toy altogether. Go up about half a centimetre at a time. Our guide size matters explains how to build up.

Firmness decides how the shaft behaves between two bodies. Too stiff and every push from one partner goes straight into the other; too soft and the toy folds instead of sliding. The Doc Johnson models and the 36 cm RealRock in skin-like TPE are on the soft side; the RealRock Slim and the XR Brands XXL hold their shape better.

Materials: PVC, TPE, silicone and dual density

• PVC: the most common double dong material. Smooth, flexible and affordable. Cheap PVC was long softened with phthalates; every model linked here is listed by its manufacturer as phthalate-free. PVC is less dense than silicone, so clean it thoroughly.
• TPE: softer and more like skin, phthalate-free here as well. It is slightly porous, so wash it well and let it dry completely.
• Silicone: non-porous and easy to clean, but rare in long double dongs because it is costly at this length and less bendy. Never use silicone-based lube on a silicone toy.
• Dual density: a firmer core inside a softer outer layer. It feels natural and pushes well, but is uncommon in double ended form.

PVC and TPE should not touch in storage: the materials can react with each other and turn sticky or discoloured. Keep each dong separate, in a bag or a cloth.

How to use a double dong together

Prepare first: an empty bowel, short nails, a towel underneath and plenty of lube within reach. Warm up with fingers or a smaller toy, each at your own pace.

Positions

• Back to back on all fours: the classic. You both kneel facing away from each other and slowly move backwards. Each of you controls his own depth by how far he pushes back.
• Face to face: lying on your backs or sides with legs intertwined, the dong arching between you. Slower and more intimate, with less depth.
• One leads: one man lies back and takes one end, the other holds the middle and lowers himself onto the other end. Good for the first time, because someone always has a hand on the toy.

Controlling depth

The main risk is one partner pushing the other deeper than he wants. Agree beforehand who holds the middle, or keep a hand around it as a stop. Move slowly and take turns: one moves, the other stays still. A word like "wait" or "stop" means exactly that, every time.

Lube

Use a lot and reapply often, because a long shaft dries out quickly. Water-based lube is safe with every material. Silicone-based lube lasts longer and suits PVC; with TPE, water-based is the safe choice. See anal lubes and silicone-based lubes. When you share a dong, a condom over each end lowers the risk of passing on infections.

Using a double dong solo

On your own, the second end becomes a long handle for slow, controlled strokes. A soft dong can also be bent into a U so both ends do something at once. Always keep a good length outside your body, since a double dong has no base to stop it. For hands-free riding a toy with a suction cup works better, such as the Ouch! Cleaning and storage

• Clean before and after every use with warm water and mild soap or a toy cleaner, along the full length. Long dongs are easiest to wash in the shower.
• Never move from anal use to any other use, or to another person, without cleaning first.
• Dry thoroughly, TPE especially, and store each dong on its own, away from heat and sunlight.
• Replace a dong when the surface turns sticky, cracked or cloudy.

How to pick your size

• First double dong: 35 to 42 cm with a diameter of about 3.2 to 3.8 cm, such as the RealRock Non-Realistic or the RealRock Slim.
• Experienced and sharing: 45 cm and 4 to 4.5 cm, such as the Doc Johnson Veined Double Header or the RealRock Realistic.
• XXL: only when 5 cm or more already feels comfortable. More big toys are under XXL dildos and porn star dildos.
• Different tastes: both ends are the same size, so let the partner who prefers less girth decide.

Men who use double dongs to stretch gradually often move on to fisting later. Take that step just as slowly.
