Steel Butt Plugs

Prices start around 11 euros for a small jewel plug, most plugs cost between 13 and 35 euros, and lockable plugs reach about 185 euros. The brands are Crushious, Steel by Shots and XR Brands, and almost everything here is stainless steel.

Why steel

Weight is the big difference: a solid steel plug weighs several times more than a silicone plug of the same size, the Steel Prostate Plug of 24 mm for example 135 grams, so you feel it when you sit, walk or squeeze. Steel is rigid and does not compress, which makes it feel bigger than a soft plug with the same diameter. It is non-porous, can be boiled clean and works with every lube. And it holds temperature: warm it in a bowl of warm water or cool it in cold water, and test it on the inside of your wrist before you insert it.

Sizes: start narrower than you think

Diameter matters far more than length. The Crushious Bijou Medium is 3.3 cm wide with 7 cm insertable, and the Bijou Large 4.4 cm with 8 cm insertable; the Small is 2.7 cm. The Crushious Borealis has a light up base that cycles through three RGB colour settings, in Small at 2.7 cm and Medium at 3.2 cm. If you are new to steel, start around 2.7 cm, even if you already use bigger silicone toys.

Wearing a jewel plug

A jewel base shows between your buttocks, which makes these plugs popular under a jockstrap or on display during a scene. Keep the first sessions short, 15 to 30 minutes: a heavy plug pulls downwards when you stand and walk. Take it out if it aches or feels numb, and remove it slowly while you breathe out.

Prostate, hooks and locks

Lube and cleaning

Any lube works on steel. A silicone-based lube lasts longest for anal play, a water-based lube rinses off more easily. Wash with warm water and mild soap or a toy cleaner; solid steel plugs without stones or lights can also be boiled.
