Butt Plugs
A butt plug is an anal toy with a tapered tip, a narrower neck and a flared base, made to stay in place once inserted so you can wear it on its own, during sex or while doing something else. It gives a feeling of fullness, can press on the prostate, and is the classic way to get used to anal play and to warm up for bigger toys.

This is one of our largest departments, with more than 270 butt plugs from €4.95 to €129.95; half cost under €22. About half are silicone, the rest PVC, metal, stainless steel or glass. Brands include Ouch!, Doc Johnson, XR Brands, Levelz, Crushious, Loveline and Rocks-Off.
Size: start smaller than you think
Look at two numbers on the product page: the insertable length and the widest diameter. Most of our plugs are under 10 cm insertable and 3 to 4 cm wide. For a first plug, about 2.5 to 3 cm wide is comfortable, for example the Shots Toys Slim Beginner Butt Plug (€9.95), the Crushious Jolly (9 cm insertable, 2.5 cm wide, €4.95) or the Rocks-Off Teazer (€19.95). Width matters far more than length.
Trainer sets
A set of two to four plugs in rising sizes lets you build up step by step: the Sono No.80 4-Piece Butt Plug Set (€18.95), the XR Brands Triple Spire (3 pieces, €25.95), the Doc Johnson Anal Trainer Set in S, M and L (€26.95) and the Satisfyer Booty Absolute Beginners 4 (€30.95). See also our anal training sets.
Material
Silicone is soft, warm, non-porous and the most comfortable for long wear. Metal and stainless steel plugs are heavier, smooth and firm, and can be warmed or cooled in water; the Ouch! Paris, Venice and Milan metal plug sets and the Crushious Camileo with four interchangeable jewels (€12.95) are popular. Glass is smooth, firm and easy to clean. PVC is cheaper and softer but porous, so wash it well and use a condom if you share it. For heavy solid steel, see steel butt plugs.
Shape and base
A tapered tip makes insertion easier, the narrow neck is what the muscle closes around, and the flared base keeps the plug outside the body. A plug without a proper base should never be used anally. A T-shaped or slim base is more comfortable when you sit or wear it longer. Weighted plugs, like the XR Brands Premium Silicone Weighted Anal Plug (€18.95) or the Prowler Red Weighted Butt Plug (€20.95), add a heavier sense of fullness when you move.
Vibrating, remote and inflatable plugs
Vibrating plugs add stimulation to the fullness: the Rocks-Off Petite Sensations (€21.95) are small and easy, the Levelz vibrating plugs (€32.95 to €34.95) are silicone with a loop, and the Loveline vibrating plugs with remote control (€34.95) let a partner take over. Inflatable plugs, like the Levelz Ribbed or Beaded Inflatable (€23.95), grow inside with a hand pump, so you set the size yourself.
Lubricant and care
Always use plenty of lubricant: the body does not lubricate itself here. Use a water-based or hybrid lubricant with silicone plugs, because silicone lubricant can damage silicone. With metal and glass, any lubricant works, and silicone lubricant lasts longer. Wash before and after use with warm water and mild soap or toy cleaner, and dry fully.

Frequently asked questions
What size butt plug should a beginner use?
About 2.5 to 3 cm at the widest point and under 10 cm insertable, in smooth silicone with a flared base. Move up in small steps, or use a trainer set.
How long can I wear a butt plug?
Start with 15 to 30 minutes. With a comfortable size, silicone material and enough lubricant, many men wear one for a few hours. Take it out if it hurts or feels numb.
Silicone or metal: which is better?
Silicone is softer and more comfortable for long wear. Metal is heavier and firmer, gives a stronger sense of fullness and works with any lubricant.
Which lubricant should I use with a butt plug?
A water-based or hybrid lubricant with silicone plugs. With metal or glass plugs any lubricant works, including silicone lubricant.
Why does a butt plug need a flared base?
The base keeps the plug outside the body so it cannot slip in. Never use a toy without a flared base anally.
Can a butt plug stimulate the prostate?
Yes, a plug presses on the prostate when it sits deep enough and is angled towards the front. For targeted stimulation, a curved prostate massager works better.
